The Open Source Analytics Community is organizing Open Lakehouse and AI Meetups, this time in Berlin. I had the honor to present about WarehousePG. Already last year I was invited to speak at this meetup, but I had to cancel because I caught a cold back then. Wouldn’t miss the chance this time!

Speakers
The meetup had four excellent speakers lined up.

Andrew Madson: Iceberg for Agents: Elevating Lakehouse Data Into AI-Ready Context
Andrew is Head of Developer Relations at Fivetran and laid out his vision how Apache Iceberg is becoming the backbone of all the AI pipelines out there.

Will Martin: The Open Data Lakehouse: Who Benefits?
Will is Evangelist at Dremio and explained how and why the lakehouse became what it is today. It all depends ond builds on open standards which interact with each other, and in which every part can be replaced by another tool confirming to the same open standards.

Andreas Scherbaum: How we made WarehousePG Open Source (again)
My presentation is the story how we made WarehousePG open source again. The product is a fork of the Greenplum Database which was made closed source by broadcom a while ago.
The picture is missing. I forgot to take one.

Venue
The meetup took place in the HOLON Space in Berlin-Pankow. It is a very nice event venue in the backyard of a building facing the Greifswalder Street. The S-Bahn is about a kilometer away, the bus stops in front of the venue.

Pizza
No meetup without food, we got two deliveries of pizza!

Luma
This community is using Luma as platform. Personally I find it interesting, and is a move away from Meetup.com which is seen negatively by an increasing number of users. Let me know in the comments what you think about this platform, and if you have an account, or plan to create one to attend future meetups.

Looking forward to the next meetup!
