FOSDEM 2017 is over, and hopefully everyone is back home. Time for a short review.
Once again, PostgreSQL ran a pre-conference to FOSDEM, called PGDay. One day just filled with awesome PostgreSQL talks, and meeting community members.

Chemnitz Linux Days is one of the main Open Source and Linux conferences in Germany, for the 15th consecutive year now. And personally it’s one of my favourite conferences.
Was the first time that I actually had the chance to attend CHAR(11). For various reasons (speak: my wife had tickets for a musical) I could not attend last year.
Like in the last years, the German-Speaking PostgreSQL User Group again has a Devroom at the FrOSCon 2011, taking place on August 20/21in St. Augustin, Germany.
The FOSDEM team finally puzzled the Pentabarf together and published all Track and Devroom schedules.
Letztes Wochenende fand zum zweiten Mal die OpenRheinRuhr statt. Die Veranstaltung ist dieses Jahr in das Rheinische Industriemuseum nach Oberhausen gezogen - eine wie ich finde gute Wahl.
Schlecht war, dass das Wetter nicht mitgespielt hat. Nordrhein-Westfalen stand das ganze Wochenende unter Dauerregen. Das hat sicherlich den ein oder anderen Besucher abgehalten. Nichtsdestotrotz haben die Veranstalter eine fast vierstellige Anzahl an Besuchern und Teilnehmern gezählt.
An Ausstellern waren nicht nur die üblichen Verdächtigen zu sehen, die Veranstaltung war auch attraktiv für diverse andere Projekte und Unternehmen, die man sonst nicht sieht. Weiter so.
“Der 7. BLIT ist Geschichte!” hieß es in einer Rundmail an alle Beteiligten. Wie letztes Jahr war es ein nicht sehr großes, aber dafür feines Event mit einer sehr guten Organisation - und natürlich ist die Veranstaltung völlig irrelevant. Über die Besucherzahlen kann man nicht meckern: mehr als 400 Besucher sind ordentlich für die Veranstaltung.
